In 1997, UFC 12 was to take place in Buffalo, but a day prior, New York state changed its laws to effectively ban MMA. UFC 12 needed a new home, in a new state, on 24 hours notice.

New York loves being political in their town. Look at that braindead AOC chasing Amazon out.. they glady went to Tennessee and now NY complaining they don't have enough jobs for the $15/ hour they raised lmao
Awesome.
If that's real hair, I'm an Ethiopian rug salesman
“They were weighing everything even the fighters” hahaha🙎♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ it’s a plane you fucking idiots! They Have to know what things weigh to calculate fuel needed for the distance.
The content the ufc is putting out these days is incredible!
Why is Rogan not on any of these?
Love these short docus..I wish the UFC would put out one that talks about how the fighters from the first few events were picked or found etc..which big name fighters were invited but didn't accept..I've always been curious how those guys in the early tournaments were chosen
I knew it weren’t boxing, and I knew it weren’t rastlin, it was more like sort of a rastlin combined with boxin, or rather boxin paired with mixed rastlin I guess. Well anyway, some of them were mixed rastlers who were trying to box, and the others seemed like boxers who are trying to mix rastle. But once I saw them rastlers lying down on the mat boxin, and the boxers rastlin standing up in the air, I knew it were somethin special. First thing I said was these fellers need some boxin rules like three 5 minute rounds and this will go world wide. True story
Made lifelong fans for sure that night.
Keep this shit up ufc!
UFC should go back there.
Nice rug Charlie … Nice rug
@ is that Michael Scott in the background?? Best boss in the world right there.
Should definitely do an annual event in Dothan Alabama for respect to the place that gave you a chance when no others would
Why don’t y’all go back? Y’all owe them
Ah New York. A cesspool shithole of censorship and fascism since the 90s. I see not much has changed in 20 years.
Yup, this content is MUCH better. Love it!
I love the hypocrisy of a state that kills unborn children and now, children who have just been delivered…but are upset with UFC fighters. You can’t make this kind of self-righteous hypocrisy up.
Thank you for uploading these documentaries ufc ☺️
That wig though!!! 😂
the early days always has the best stories, respect to those people, it was the wild west, forozzo punched so hard, I guess the early ufc's had their own "pre-lims" that didn't air or make the tape?
I'm from the Dothan area. I was 13 when the UFC came . Some of my older friends helped sneak me in so I could watch the fights. One of the most memorable events I've ever been to. Thank you UFC for this sweet walk down memory lane.
The main event was me leaving and two cops telling me no. 6 months later tossed out.
Ufc comin through with this fiya mini documentaries 💯💣💣💣💣👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤘🏽😜
Just gonna ignore they used a Hans Zimmer sound w/o crediting him?
Lol i remember ufc being demonised in Australia too
ROGAN TOLD A STORY ABOUT THIS PLACE! He ran into a "bad ass bitch". Legend has it he didn't know what he was missing. I like to think he knew…
i wish ufc a happy 100 anniversary UFC is a true sport organization
that created something unique
NYSAC pulled a Jon Jones
Nobody in UFC today would get in there with a roided out Coleman with no gloves and wrist wraps
Damn UFC is on point right now. The mini doc followed by the whole damn Dothan event. 👏👏👏👏
name 1 popular sport that's not deadly!
So hypocritical of New York. Look out your window, there are murders happening in your own backyard and yet they are worried about hosting a no holds bar barenuckle fight. What a joke
shout out to steve carell at lol
Shout out to Charlie platt’s powerful wig 💪🏾💪🏾
That Genesis verse about Joseph going with his brethren to Dothan must be a nod to Joe Rogan, because the Dothan, Alabama show was the first UFC that Rogan ever did.
the worse hair piece I have ever seen lmao..its ridiculous lol
ive never tried boiled peanuts, ya never see them anywhere outside of the south i guess.
Joe Rogan has a great story about Dothan. Lol
Vito juiced to the gills since 19
Music.. Reminds me of something,wwe promo or ?….. I can't remember……..
Help me get my memory back please!
MULLET COUNTRY !!!!!
News anchor lady was sexy
lol
Haha I forgot how fucking jacked some of the fighters were back in the day… Vitor 19 years old, looking like some human/Belgian blue bull mix experiment..
Funny how the politicians of New York were so concerned about life then, now it's all about abortions. The irony..
Now they need to have another UFC PPV Or just a fight Night there now..
Just like today, Old people are literally retarded and have no fucking clue what they are talking about.
Awesome video
