Ben Shapiro is a controversial figure but one of the US’ leading conservative political commentators. His book, The Right Side of History: How Reason and Moral Purpose Made the West Great, is a New York Times bestseller.
In a spiky Politics Live interview with Andrew Neil, Mr Shapiro refers to an incident which took place between campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski and Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields in 2016.
Although a charge was brought at the time against Mr Lewandowski, Florida prosecutors dropped the case.

Don’t set up an interview asking questions when you are clearly implying your opinions in the way you present the question. It is a tactic to make others believe someone is evil because they have different opinions and it’s not the same as theirs. Interviews held like this do not encourage public discussion, but just prove that you come in closed minded and try to present you aren’t.

Ok, I think I’m starting to understand what the situation was like. Neil wasn’t necessarily taking stances as he was offering up potential opposing stances that Shapiro could face. Shapiro so used to be attacked in the US with personal stances that he bribed that was what was happening. Because of this dissonance, Shapiro mistook the stance being put forward for Neil’s actual stance, hence why he called him a leftist. I think Shapiro could’ve done a bit better job of clarifying when he had changed his stance on certain issues. Also, it did seem like, in his own words, he wasn’t prepared for this interview. Though, to be fair, it was supposed to be about his book, which wasn’t even mentioned until the halfway mark and was barely touched on. Of course, it wasn’t the best thing to storm out of the interview, though I imagine Shapiro was very frustrated. He’s so used to people demoralizing him based on his opinions, and because he believed that was what was taking place, he left. It seems that the majority of the conflict here stems from miscommunication and preconceptions.

It blows my mind how Ben can refute literally every question the man throws at him and opt out of the interview after realizing how, wrongfully, stacked against him these questions were and then these Europeans still think he somehow failed the interview? I mean literally the moment Ben explains how their perspective is askewed and their stance is incorrect, they immediately go to the next question to try it all over again, doing this several times over, hoping Ben will mess up or be unable to recall what the context was, what he said, and his thought process behind it (of an instance that occured many years ago, and he was STILL able to distinctly recall those things, too). Their sources are blatantly out of context and the interviewer clearly has a bias. I swear it's like these Europeans are upset they sent their rejects to America and then we turned out to do exceptionally well without their help and they'll do anything to convince themselves that Americans have it all wrong. Someone please refute the responses that Ben provided. Please, I am begging you.

That interviewer is terrible. Like, how is he a journalist? I just heard about this on a podcast and thought I'd see some guy have a meltdown but instead I see some ignorant geezer who can barely read the questions off his paper.
