UFC Vancouver weigh-in results: Michel Pereira fails to make weight, but fight against Tristan Connelly still on

Michel Pereira will have to give up a percentage of his purse after failing to make the welterweight limit for his fight against Tristan Connelly at UFC Fight Night in Vancouver.

The Brazilian fighter, who earned a highlight reel knockout over Danny Roberts in his Octagon debut, came in at 172 pounds — one pound over the welterweight limit for a non-title fight.

While there was some chatter that perhaps Pereira would get a second attempt to make weight per the rules of the BC Athletic Commission in Canada, he ultimately remained at 172 pounds and did not undergo any further weight cutting.

Pereira will now be fined 20 percent of his purse as punishment for failing to make weight for his fight with that money going to Connolly.

The fight between Pereira and Connolly will move forward as scheduled on Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night card from Vancouver.
