Pau Gasol Setting Sights On NBA Comeback, 2020 Olympics
Six-time NBA All-Star Pau Gasol has yet to play a single game in the NBA this season. However, the 39-year-old big man has decided that he is not done with basketball just yet.
The 7-foot Spaniard told ESPN Radio on Friday that he is preparing to participate with the Spanish national team in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, per ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

Gasol spent an injury-plagued NBA season with Milwaukee Bucks in 2018-19. With the Bucks, the 18-year NBA veteran appeared in just three games and averaged 1.3 points and 3.3 rebounds.
Over the summer, the former Los Angeles Lakers champion signed with the Portland Trail Blazers on a one-year, $2.6 million deal. However, four months later in November, Gasol announced that he would no longer be a part of Portland’s roster and would spend his time rehabbing a stress fracture that he suffered in May.
2020 will mark Gasol’s fifth Olympic experience with the Spanish national team after first playing in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Pau Gasol helped Spain earn silver medals in both 2008 and 2012 games and the bronze medal in 2016.
