I’m A Celeb’s James Haskell slammed over ‘sunshine bus’ comment on Jacqueline Jossa photo
The 27 year old took to the social media platform on Wednesday to share a cute image of herself playing on a beach, taken by her husband Dan Osborne.
In the upload, the former EastEnders actress wears a pair of Tommy Hilfiger dungarees, with a leopard print bikini top peeping out from underneath.
Her dressed down look is completed by a baseball cap with a fish on it as she stands barefoot in the sand, posing with a football.
Sharing the image with her 2.6million followers, she captioned the post: “So @danosborneofficial took this photo of me and I was certain I was going to look like a full on Instagram model in my cute dungarees on the beach.”
She continued: “FUMING!! Look at me BUT I still look at this with fond memories of playing football on a beach with my hubby, racing and just being so silly. I can’t help but smile. Fair to say I will never be that girl.”
As many of her fans rushed to compliment Jacqueline on her effortless beauty, but it was 34 year old James’ comment that had people talking.
The former rugby player wrote underneath the snap: “You look like you are waiting for the sunshine bus and if anyone touches your football you will go mad.”
The term ‘sunshine bus’ is sometimes cruelly used as an insulting way to describe transport used by mentally disabled patients.
James’ comment quickly sparked outrage amongst Jacqueline’s followers, with one writing: “Let’s hope you never have children with special needs!”
A second added: “I’m sorry such an I’ll judged comment. Im sure it was said in a jovial manner [sic].”
A third chimed: “As a parent of a child with a disability these types of comments are often said to mock a person’s disability and are hugely offensive, experience first hand the struggles and pain of a disabled person or be a family member who hears comments relating to a person they love it’s heartbreaking.
“So I will happily be on the pc brigade, defending my child and others with disability.”
While a fourth added: “Wow James, excelled yourself here, this certainly isn’t ‘banter central’ and no I’m not a snowflake, just think this is a horrible comment.”
