Stoke City manager latest – Manchester City hero fancies job

A Manchester City hero, who has managed four clubs in this country, is believed to be keen on the Stoke City vacancy.

StokeonTrentLive understands that Uwe Rosler, currently manager of Malmo in Sweden, would jump at the chance to return to England.

The 50 year-old German has been with Malmo since the summer of 2018 and has just guided them to second in the Swedish top flight.

It is now the off season in Sweden and that is one less complication were Stoke to ever go down that route.

Rosler’s biggest managerial impact in this country came with his first appointment at Brentford in June 2011, steering them to the League One play-offs by the end of his second season.

In his first season at Wigan he led them to the League One play-off semi finals and the FA Cup semi-finals.

He joined Leeds in the summer of 2015, but was sacked after just two wins in 12 games.

The following summer, just four days before the 2016/17 season started, he joined Fleetwood Town and led them to the League One play-offs, but was sacked in February 2018 after seven straight losses in all competitions.

As a player, Rosler is best remembered in this country for his impact as a striker at Manchester City when he averaged around a goal every three games during his 150 appearances between 1994 and 1998.
