Main Slate

Cleveland Indians vs LHP Eric Skoglund – 5.9 implied runs

With Jose Ramirez straining his wrist on Saturday night there could be some batting order promotions for some of the Tribe as they take on LHP Eric Skoglund.  This will be the southpaw’s first MLB action this season and he has been HORRIBLE down on the farm.  In 73.0 innings he has a 6.41 ERA, 1.534 WHIP with a 5.9 K/9 ugh.  Over his 88.0 innings in The Show he has a 6.03 ERA, 1.44 WHIP with a 6.44 K/9… ENJOY!

In his 2017 and 2018 campaigns, Skoglund has been crushed RHB: 322 TBF, .353 wOBA, .211 ISO and LHB: 65, .348 wOBA, .255 ISO.  Francisco Lindor, Carlos Santana, Franmil Reyes, Yasiel Puig and Oscar Mercado lead the way.  This could be a day of rest, but with Cleveland in the hunt for the AL Central crown and Ramirez likely out, we should see this quintet in action on Sunday.

Tampa Bay Rays at RHP Dylan Bundy – 5.9 implied runs

Props to RHP Dylan Bundy for only allowing two home runs over his last four starts spanning 24 innings.  He is still the two season leader with 66 leaving the yard. For perspective the next two are Justin Verlander who pounds the strike zone and has allowed five less in nearly 100 more innings and J.A. Happ who has allowed eight less in eight more innings.

Look to Austin Meadows, Tommy Pham, Kevin Kiermaier, Travis d’Arnaud and the resurgent Jesus Aguilar along with Ji-Man Choi for your Sunday Funday action.

Afternoon Slate

Arizona Diamondbacks at RHP Zach Davies – 4.8 Implied runs

Do not let the low implied run total take you away from the Diamondbacks with this ballpark upgrade and matchup with RHP Zach Davies.  Like his name, his game does not have many Ks BADUMPBA!  Since the beginning of last year Davies has struck out just 15.9% of all hitters and he is particularly sketchy against lefties.  Opposite-handed hitters have a .344 wOBA, .192 ISO and a 9.7 BB% against the veteran.

Look to Christian Walker, Eduardo Escobar and Ketel Marte as the trio to target.  Add in catcher Carson Kelly if in the lineup for a solid quartet and do not worry about Kelly being towards the bottom of the order.

Late Slate

San Diego Padres vs LHP Brian Johnson – 5.0 implied runs

This is a nightmare matchup for LHP Brian Johnson against a righty heavy lineup that will likely be presented by the Friars on Sunday.  Over his last 414 lefty/righty matchups, Johnson has allowed a .372 wOBA, .201 ISO with a 9.7 BB% and a 17.9 K%.  Look to Manny Machado, Hunter Renfroe and Wil Myers as the trio to target with Manny Margo and Luis Urias as differentiation plays.

Seattle Mariners vs RHP Clay Buchholz – 5.1 implied runs

This is an intriguing spot for the understudies of the Mariners who have traded away most of their talent in the off season (Robinson Cano, Edwin Encarnacion, Jay Bruce) and lost others to injury (Mitch Haniger, Ryon Healy).

That said, this is the first appearance for Buchholz since Cinco de Mayo after dealing with a back injury.  He has three MiLB rehab starts under his belt, but is unlikely to exceed 50-60 pitches.  Anyone with power from either side of the plate will be in play on this three game set for the afternoon crowd.
