Dereck Chisora hijacks Josh Taylor press conference for foul-mouthed rant at boxing promoter Eddie Hearn
World champion light-welterweight Josh Taylor considered challenging a man twice his size as heavyweight Dereck Chisora hijacked the news conference at which Taylor was publicising his World Boxing Super Series final.
Taylor will fight for the No 1 position in the division, two world title belts and The Ring Magazine title against the American Regis Prograis at The O2 in London on October 26.
But before the pair could speak, former world heavyweight title challenger Chisora launched into an expletive-ridden rant, aiming barbs at promoter Eddie Hearn citing “a lack of respect” and threatening to pull out of his fight against former world champion Joseph Parker on The O2 undercard.
“I should be the main event, we are selling this event out, not these skinny little guys. No one cares about them. I’m not selling out the O2 to main event for these boys,” he said.
“No cares about the Muhammad Ali trophy. If I’m not going to main event I want more money or I’m pulling out the show, you can f— off, I’ll be walking away from this.”
As visiting New Orleans fighter Prograis bit back, Chisora, later deep in conversation with the promoter Hearn, told the unbeaten WBA champion, half his size, that “no one was interested in watching” the WBSS final.
